2010 Historic Racing Tour Launched

Friday 4 December 2009, saw the launch of the new 2010 Historic Tour, at a function held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. The man behind this new initiative is Peter Lindenberg and a number of prominent sponsors, have already come on board, ensuring that the series will have full TV coverage and should be well supported, by competitors from the various categories competing on the Tour. Sponsors already committed, by the launch, are Execuline Motor Insurance, Hollard Insurance, Nashua Mobile, Ctrack Vehicle Tracking and Aucor Auctioneers.

Categories competing on the Tour, will include Historic Saloon Cars, Historic Sports and GT Cars, Historic Motor Cycles, Pre 66 Legends Production Cars, Pre 66 Sports and GT Cars, Historic Racing Cars and Trans Am Racing Saloons, along with the Northern Regions Championship Lotus Challenge and the National Championship Formula Vees. Not all categories will compete at every event and other categories, like the Alfa Romeo Trofeo and Team Cobra, will also make an appearance at certain events.

Peter Lindenberg and Execuline MD Alan Eustice, gave a brief outline of the Tour, while Roger Pearce expressed Motor Sport South Africa' s comitment to this new venture. 

Out with the Old, in with the New! 

We would like the opportunity to congratulate Huge with the Birth of his daughter on Monday (23 November 2009)!  May your family be overwhelmed with blessings. 

Also good luck to Alan Eustice and the rest of the committee that was elected on the 24th of November.  With new energy and vision we all could be excited about a 2010 racing season that is going to be fresh and out of this world!  Thanks also to Jannie Snr for the 5 years he acted as chairman of the club.

For 2010 the South African Formula Vee Championship will be run under the banner of Execuline, and with Peter Lindenburg's newly launched Historic series.  We will have the privilege to race with the Historic Formula One cars (with not against) in East London on the 13th of Feb 2010, and can also look forward to the 45 Year anniversary race at the end of the year! Sympathy to the Families of Mel and Geoff 

 The Formula Vee Association of South Africa extends it's deepest sympathy, to the family and friends of ex race driver, team owner and more recently the owner of Midvaal Raceway, Mel Lahner who passed away at the weekend.

Further sad news received on 23 November 2009, is that ex double South African National Formula Vee Champion Geoff Thornton, passed away in the Eastern Cape this afternoon, having been very ill for a while and the deepest sympathy, of the Association, also goes out to his family and many friends and acquaintances, as well.
